創作者的話
During the artwork creation process, I summarized various community cultures and characteristics which are discovered during "community observation" through this artwork. I hope viewers can once in a blue moon experience "community observation" by the way of direct artwork appreciation. Via appreciation, I am sure dense buildings are the first impression of this area. However, rare culture and core city values penetrated the scenery. These details will be found when viewers give their attention to the artwork. Like traditional handcraft or building structures. In the same way, this artwork appreciation process is similar to "community observation". Therefore, I hope to spread out community culture through my artworks. The communication between viewers and artworks can form a "community observation" experience. I may observe different community zone, and continually create more artwork for this series.
在創作的過程中，我把從社區觀察中留意到的社區文化特色，記錄在畫面中。 希望大家在觀賞作品之時， 實踐「社區觀察」。當觀賞者欣賞作品時，第一眼看到的，是密密麻麻的高樓大廈，也就是對社區的第一印象。當觀賞者進一步留意作品中不同細節, 他們便能發現社區每個角落亦存在文化特色及核心價值。如傳統工藝或樓宇建築特色。因此，我希望透過作品把社區文化傳遞出去。觀賞者與作品交流，形成社區觀察的經歷及體驗。日後我會繼續觀察不同的社區，繪畫更多這系列的作品。

Meaning of the title
「西油」之意
The artwork title "西油圖" literally means the district from WKCD(西) to Yau Ma Tei(油). There is a pun in Cantonese that "Yau" had the same pronunciation as "journey". Thus, the English translation of the title is called "Journey to Yau Ma Tei".
「西油圖」的「油」，字面上採用油麻地的「油」，但「油」字唸著（粵：Jau4）則與遊歷的「遊」同音（Jau4）。因而意指遊歷西九至油麻地。同時「西油圖」作品，呼應了「西油記」的展覽名字，寄望這件作品像一幅大地圖般，總結展覽主題地區的所見所聞。

也可以是內在文化的美，承傳文化堅毅精神的美。
多留意社區不同的角落，或者會有不一樣的體會。

Communities are changing over time, many historical old buildings are facing a demolition crisis. Simultaneously, the emergence of new culture allows the community to alternate between the new and the old culture, where complement each other. Slow down our pace, enjoy the unique scene of at the moment.
社區隨時間改變，古舊歷史建築或面臨拆卸的危機。
同時新興文化的出現，讓社區新舊交替，互補長短。
在繁忙的步伐中，停下來記錄社區當下獨特景象。
創作原因
Reason for creation
In Chinese traditional culture, dragons and tigers are mystical beasts that represent auspiciousness and power. The creator added them amidst the crowd of buildings to maintain social stability and prosperity. When analyzing the poem, the momentum and velocity of a dragon, symbolize the endless stream of vehicles. The growl and vitality of a tiger, sign the bustling and lively degree of the city. Additionally, these beasts have a hidden Chinese idiom, metaphor hides talent. In this case, various meaningful cultures and beautiful building structures are buried that everyone did not notice. Therefore, the composition of the city seems to present a flourishing view but does not have a single car or human, which creates a strong contradiction, reserving an area for viewers to gain deeper reflection.
龍和虎，在中國文化中象徵吉祥、威武。創作者將龍虎繪畫在城市之中，守護社區，寄寓社會的繁榮與安穩。若與詩句一同分析，龍的氣勢與速度，代表川流不息的車輛，城中舞動之貌；老虎的哮聲與活力，代表熙來攘往的街道，社區熱鬧之況。再者，龍和虎還有一個隱藏的成語含義——臥虎藏龍。西油社區中，埋藏著各樣文化特色和城市美態。然而大家卻沒有察覺。所以，畫面以虎龍作暗示。而構圖繪畫的繁華城市中，卻沒有人，沒有車，形成強烈對比，為觀賞者留下反思空間。
